After the cancellation of the show in 2020, the 27th edition of Eurosatory, which takes place from 13th to 17th June 2022, is keenly awaited.

Eurosatory returns from 13th to 17th June after four years of absence. The show will be held again this year at the Parc des Expositions de Paris-Nord Villepinte. But, four years after the last edition, the context has changed a great deal. At the time of the war in Ukraine, « this show is part of a new order and a new global reality », declared Charles Beaudouin, general manager of COGES Events, the company which organizes the show, at a press conference in Paris on Wednesday 25th May. The general commissioner of the show also mentioned global warming and the « digital explosion », two themes that have clearly gained in importance since the previous edition.

Eurosatory « continues to confirm its position as the world’s leading exhibition for the industry of defence and land and air-land security », underlined Marc Darmon, the president of the Groupement des industries françaises de défense et de air-land (GICAT), who noted the capabilities of France, which has « large world-leading industrial groups » such as « in the field of site protection, secure telecommunications and cybersecurity ».

The preliminary figures as of 24th May confirm the interest in the 2022 edition: more than 1,700 exhibitors from 62 countries have registered, at least 212 official delegations are expected, 39 national pavilions will be present, including Ukraine, and nearly 400 journalists have been accredited. Thirteen defence ministers, five interior ministers, a prime minister and around forty chiefs of staff are expected to attend the 2022 edition.

More than ever, « Eurosatory is a predominantly European show », insisted Charles Beaudouin. About 70% of exhibitors are European. France is well represented with 650 exhibitors. “We are seeing a very strong increase in the participation of countries from Eastern Europe and Northern Europe,” revealed the CEO of COGES Events. Sweden, which presented 14 companies in 2018, is presenting 34 this year, as is Denmark, which has gone from 22 to 37 companies. Conversely, due to health constraints, China will present only 4 companies this year, compared to 54 during the previous edition. “In fact, the show will see a major refocus on Europe,” observed Charles Beaudouin.

The 2022 edition will also be an opportunity to highlight new trends in the fields of defence and security: cybersecurity, terrestrial robotics, jamming and aeronautics.
