Eurosatory’s new Show Daily will be a modernized publication, both in print and online

6 Jan 2022 | Eurosatory Report

By Joseph Roukoz.

The monitoring of ongoing military operations around the world, as well as defense market news – both contracts and acquisitions – regularly roll out their news and releases. But where are we today? For those who ask this question every day, in a rich news story, disentangling the true from the false and clarifying things is definitly useful, even for specialists.

Our world is now entering a post-COVID era which should allow everyone to resume their place and activity in social life. Certainly a little different in form and with some behavioral constraints.

The relaunch of public meetings to which we were accustomed, such as annual or biannual trade shows essential to the good functioning of our economies, will therefore mark a new stage.

In this period of slow recovery, and after some two years of forced removal (or even total absence) due to the pandemic, it is with EDR a team of recognized defense journalists who, during the 2022 edition of Eurosatory, will make its contribution to the follow-up of military news, by animating a new Show Daily, which will make its first appearance, with dynamism and professionalism, always in bilingual version, during the show.

For its resumption, Eurosatory 2022 will bring together, according to the pre-announcements made by the organizers, some 1,800 exhibitors at Villepinte representing 63 countries. More than 200 foreign delegations are expected, 75 conferences organized and more than 2,000 B-to-B meetings initiated.

Towards a Europe of defense? It is announced that the common European financial framework 2021-2027 will for the first time include a defense fund to the tune of 7.9 billion euros: this will be extra money for European armaments companies. Certainly, with a method of financing whose legal outlines are still unclear concerning the rights and obligations of each and the possible developments. But this is an encouraging first step in the line of successful community armaments programs.

Available freely and free of charge at the magazine racks installed at the entrances to the Villepinte Exhibition Center, the new Quotidien du Salon / Show Daily will be a modernized publication, both in print and online. Through its expert opinions and a relevant choice of sections, it will highlight the technological breakthroughs presented at the world’s largest exhibition of land, air-land military and security equipment held in Paris after a four-year absence.

The performance of combat equipment has made considerable progress since the turn of the century. Presenting them requires expert analyzes, carried out by senior journalists who no longer entertain the popular confusion between evolution (quantitative approach) and progress (qualitative approach). All the more so as there are today many new players in this industry who above all concentrates excellence.

Eurosatory 2022 marks the start of EDR Show Daily, a new branch of the ED Publishing group, which will expand its activity to other defense exhibitions around the world, bringing together for the occasion a team of experts from the military and strategic information, adapted to the themes of the show and to the geographically concerned area.
