New roles for ST Engineering Bronco 3

15 Juin 2022 | Latest News

No need to introduce the Bronco 3, the ST Engineering high mobility tracked vehicle being quite
known and having been around for some time. At each exhibition the Singaporean company is
however proposing new versions.
One of those is the mother-ship concept, which was developed foe example to carry out casualty
evacuation. In this configuration the Bronco 3 carries an unmanned ground vehicle; once in the
vicinity of the frontline, the Bronco 3 comes to a halt and releases the UGV that autonomously
reaches the location where the casualty is waiting in full autonomy, once it receives the coordinates.
The casualty is then loaded onto the UGV, which once again in full autonomy comes back to the
Bronco 3, and is loaded into the CASEVAC module at the back and moved to the closest dressing
station. A mother-ship use for drones is another configuration putting together the Bronco 3 and
robotic systems.
Another recent version is that dedicated to Counter-UAS and Counter-RAM (Rocket Artillery
Mortar) missions. This was developed together with Nexter, installing a 40 mm CTA turret on the
rear wagon. ST Engineering is obviously promoting also previously developed versions, such as
that armed with the SRAM mortar.
An unarmoured version of the Bronco 3 is taking part in the US Army Cold Weather All-Terrain
Vehicle competition; ST Engineering decided to replace the armoured steel cabin with a
commercial steel one, considering that it would be a lot easier to armour it if and when required.
At Eurosatory 2022 the Singaporean company is exhibiting its Bronco 3 fitted with Saab Giraffe
radar.
