First time Eurosatory presence for the IDV Medium Tactical Vehicle (MTV). Designed to answer a
Dutch MoD requirement, IDV signed the contract for what is known in the Netherlands as 12kN in
November 2019. In fact, the expected payload of 12,000 N, 1,224 kg, was largely exceeded and is
now 2,000 kg, for a kerb weight of 10 tonnes. Powered by a 276 hp engine, it features a ladder
chassis with leaf spring suspensions with dampers and antiroll bars. Industry trials are being
concluded, and were carried out in accordance with the customer, many of them, such as ballistic
tests, having been carried out in the Netherlands at the TNO, which was part of the offset
programme.
The first vehicle to be delivered next fall will be a Hard Top, like the one on exhibition, two slightly
different versions of this type being planned, one for the Army and one for the Marines, the Soft
Top version to be delivered by late 2022, early 2023. In 2023 IDV will deliver around 100 vehicles,
the remaining vehicles to be delivered 200 per year until 2027. According to IDV the vehicle, which
is being developed also in the Pick-Up and Monocoque versions, has a considerable growth margin
and has already attracted the interest of numnerous potential customers in Eastern Europe, the
Balkans and in the south Mediterranean.
While Eurosatory will allow IDV to discuss the MTV with numerous delegations, the true
commercial campaign will start in 2023, when the company will have available the demonstration
vehicle, to be completed by year end, and will be able to deploy it for customers trials.
